there are many, many greats, but here are my favorites:


'a christmas story' (ralphie! i triple-dog dare you to see it.)

'scrooged'

'christmas vacation'

'a muppet christmas carol'

'it's a wonderful life'

dr seuss' cartoon, "how the grinch stole christmas."


and, my friend made me add, the george c. scott 'a christmas carol' and 'a miracle on 34th street.'



'bad santa' is funny, but not very christmasy.

kryptonite

well a friend today asked what kryptonite really was. i told her krypton is an element on the periodic table. she asked, "so it's possible to have kryptonite; it's just a variation of krypton." well, krypton is a noble gas and doesn't really blend well with other elements. it is possible though, but it would take a lot of energy to make this happen.

in the superman legend, kryptonite is pieces of the planet krypton. in the 'superman returns' movie they intimated at the chemical formula for the meteorite containing kryptonite, by the description tag in the museum. i just watched the dvd and this is what that tag says:

Addis Ababa L9 Pallassite Meteorite
Sodium Lithium Boron Silicate Hydroxide with Fluorine
Kebe Mine, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia"

standard chemicals really, nothing extraodinary like kryptonite.


what did you guys think of the movie?
it was both a remake of the first christopher reeve superman movie, with elements of superman2 and a sequel to superman2. i loved the effects, the plot was weak in parts and i wished it was entirely new, not a remake. i could list all the similarities between 1 and 2 and superman returns, but i think they're obvious.

so what's going to happen now in the superman series?
will superman be killed by doomsday like in the comic?
will superman's son become superboy and join up with kryto, the superdog, in a kids movie?
will there be a justice league movie? (no wonder twins, but real heros. an ice cage and a billy goat are not suitable superhero fighting tactics).

i hope the next movie gets better, with a more expanded plot, and not worse like so many sequels do. if they get bryan singer again, i wont be worried.

who's you're favorite superman villan? brainiac? darkside? doomsday? luthor? etc...


i am so looking forward to seeing venom in spiderman3.
